I thought maybe it was the inside of a cone air filter, but I was kinda drunk when I first thought that.

It is an oil heat exchanger/filter. As seen below, you are looking down the row of hundreds of filter plates. It is used to cool the hydraulic oil that is used in the six pumps it takes to run our full vehicle shaker in the lab at work.
