 BITD 1st Information Letter
FROM BITD SITE: Dear Off-Road Racing Enthusiast: Things are changing fast in the world of off-road desert racing and we are running hard to keep up. We must always keep abreast of new rules and regulations in the land management world and the environmental world. We continually try to bring you the best off-road racing possible. Every race has its challenges but keeping the great sport of off-road desert racing exciting, new and challenging, that is what’s important. With the Bilek Racing Silver State “300” Best In The Desert is bringing a whole new challenge that will become one of your favorite races; a race in the great high desert of Eastern Nevada! What can be more exciting than to race on some of the most scenic desert land in our country? The Bilek Racing Silver State “300” offers you not only scenic value, but a great race course. The course will have a mixture of high-desert mountains, sand-washes, and some of the most awesome scenic views that will make you want to stop your race vehicle and just take it all in. You will race through the Pahroc Summit area where you will see unbelievable rock formations, the Dalamar Valley, where the ghost town of Dalamar was located and where gold was discovered in 1890, the Cathedral Gorge area where you will see eroded spires, towers and columns of tan bentonite clay and Pioche, which in 1870 was considered to be one of the wildest mining camps in the West. Pit # 6 is in Caliente, at the Railroad yard, dating back to the late 1800’s! Not only does the Bilek Racing Silver State “300” offer a race rich in scenic beauty but this part of Eastern Nevada is rich in American History. The race will start in the Alamo area, a town established in 1901 and was an important area for cattle ranching, and still is today. You will see that cattle ranching is alive and well in the deep green pastures of Pahranagat Valley. You will then travel north through Caliente, a town where in 1901 the Union Pacific Railroad and the Oregon Short Line claimed the same territory and the same set of tracks. The course takes you to the Caselton area where silver was discovered in 1868 at the Prince Mine. The entire area is rich in history and the Bilek Racing Silver State “300” will give you an opportunity to go back in time and experience what it must have been like to live as a cattle rancher, a miner or a railroad man. This is not only a great race but a great event to bring your entire family to; remember Best In The Desert is about creating memories and the Bilek Racing Silver State “300” will definitely live up to your expectations. The Bilek Racing Silver State “300” is an event, not just another race! Race headquarters will be in the beautiful town of Mesquite, Nevada, at the Oasis Hotel & Casino. Registration, Tech Inspection and Contingency will be held on Friday, September 26, and the race will take place on Saturday, September 27! The start line is in Alamo and the finish line will be in Mesquite. Remember, life is short, you need to live your life to the fullest each day and grasp all of the excitement and the challenges live has to offer. I don’t want you to miss out racing on a great course and seeing what this part of Nevada has to offer. This is my personal invitation to come join me to a great event in Eastern Nevada, the Bilek Racing Silver State “300”! I look forward to seeing you in Mesquite in September! Life is An Adventure ~ Sincerely, Come Live your Adventure with Best In The Desert !!! Re: BITD 1st Information Letter
Bilek Racing Silver State “300” ~ UPDATE ~
1) The Bilek Racing Silver State “300” will be a one-300 mile loop. It’s a chase race!
2) Registration, Tech Inspection and Contingency will all take place in Mesquite, NV, 75 miles from Las Vegas on I-15 heading North. The Host Hotel is the Oasis Hotel. Call today for reservations at 800-459-7529, the rooms are filling up fast and we have already increased our room block twice. The special group rate ends on August 27, 2008, so get your rooms today!
3) The race will start in the Alamo area, there will be a 96-mile transfer section on race day, Saturday, September 27, 2008. The reason we do not race out of Mesquite is because of an AC/EC, on the “Mormon Mesa.” AC/EC is land that is closed by the BLM due to the desert tortoise. There are no hotel rooms in the Alamo area so Mesquite is the closest we can get you to the start line. It’s a very easy 96-mile drive in the morning and you are heading that way to chase. The finish line will be near Mesquite.
4) TIME TRIALS ~ There will be “Time Trials” to determine start positions on Friday morning, September 26, 2008. Only two classes will be allowed to qualify for the Top starting positions, Class 1400 and Class 1500. The Class 1400 and Class 1500 vehicles will start in the order in which they qualify in the Time Trials. You must be a PRE-ENTRY to participate in the Time Trials, we will not accept any entry forms at the Time Trials, pre-enter! THE TIME TRIALS IS AN OPTIONAL EVENT, if you do not participate in the Time Trials there will be a “Draw” for start positions and you will be placed in the draw order of your class after the participants of the time trials are placed. The Draw for Start Positions is Wednesday, September 10!
5) COURSE DISTANCE ~ The Bilek Racing Silver State “300” is a 300-mile loop DESIGNATED PITS ~ There are six (6) pits for all entries, plus one (1) additional Pit for Motorcycles, Quads & UTV’s, seven (7) total for MC/Q/UTV. Race course mileage is: Start to Pit 1 = 44 miles Pit 1 to Pit 2 = 46 miles Pit 2 to Pit 3 = 41 miles Pit 3 to Pit 4 = 41 miles Pit 4 to Pit 5 = 14 miles Pit 5 to Pit 6 = 41 miles (Note: BITD Vehicle 7th Pit/MCQ/UTV Only–51 miles from Pit 6) Pit 6 to Finish Line = 70 Total Mileage = 297 race miles plus 15 miles transfer section from the finish to the Ford Mesa = 312 miles
6) The Bilek Racing Silver State “300” PRE-FUN RUN will be September 13, 14, 2008. This is a little confusing but I’ll try to be clear: For the Pre-Fun Run ONLY, you will NOT be going to Mesquite first. The Pre-Fun Run will start on Saturday morning in ALAMO (NOT Mesquite.) We suggest you stay in Las Vegas on Friday night, September 12, 2008. You will drive 90-miles from Las Vegas to Alamo Saturday morning and register for the Pre-Fun Run at the Alamo Truck Stop. You will off-load your pre-runners and start from the official start line at the truck stop. The reason we are doing this for the pre-run ONLY is because there is no reason to have you drive 90-miles to Mesquite and then another 96-miles in the morning, one transfer section only! Saturday Night – September 13, 2008 - You will be staying in Caliente (and Pioche) Saturday night and the Caliente Volunteer Fire Department will be cooking us a special barbeque dinner on Clover Street. This will be a fund raising event for the Volunteer Fire Department and we appreciate your support! We will collect $10 from every person at registration for the dinner. All of the rooms have been sold-out for the pre-fun run but we have arranged for camping at Agua Caliente RV Park and Young’s RV Park. If you bring a tent and sleeping bags you will be able to camp at the park and they do have showers available. To make reservations at Agua Caliente call 775- 726-3399 and Young’s RV Park is 775-726-3418. Sunday, September 14, 2008 – The Pre-Fun Run will end in Mesquite on Sunday afternoon. The finish line is close to Mesquite (NOT Alamo.)
7) Water Crossing! The Bilek Racing Silver State “300” will have some of the most awesome “let’s get it wet” water crossings! Get ready to have some fun! Also, there will be a downhill to remember, from the top of East Pass in the Ponderosa Pines, at 7500 ft. to the valley below ~ unbelievable view point to top!!
8) IriTrack real-time satellite tracking system is MANDATORY for ALL Car & Truck classes, for all of 2008, including Class 1800, Safari Pre-Runner Class. Please call IRC at 714-544-0668 to order your IRC tracking system today! IriTrack real-time satellite tracking system is MANDATORY for UTV’s when you are on the same race course with the cars and trucks, so YES, for the Bilek Racing Silver State “300” UTV entries must have the IriTrack. The IriTrack IS NOT MANDATORY for motorcycle and quad entries for 2008. IriTrack real-time satellite tracking system is for TRACKING and SAFETY and the Transponders are for TIMING and SCORING! Transponders are mandatory for ALL race vehicles; Motorcycles, Quads, UTV’s, Cars and Trucks - we score you with transponders. If you don’t yet own one, they are $80, and they are yours to keep.
