 HOMEWORK!!!!
OK, pull up google earth or mapquest or whatever and look at the following links. . .be prepared for EITHER of the following pit sequences: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10,Finish or 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,11, Finish we will NOT be manning Pit 9 and you MAY be asked to skip a pit or man a pit that you weren't originally assigned in the heat of battle. Our pit strategy will be provided to each of the chase teams before the race, but it is better if you assume readiness for the ENTIRE race. The preliminary plan is for Chase 1 to do driver changes and for Chase 2 to do fuel. Most stops will be manned by both chase trucks, but some will NOT. Details will be in your final pit book. Initially; Keri, Kevin, Kevin (if he can come) and the drivers will be in Chase 1 and John, Drae, and Tim will be in Chase 2. Again, it is MUCH better to feel comfortable about the whole course. The race truck will be moving pretty damn fast, so the pit plan is FLUID. Here are the links to study: http://www.bitd.com/downloads/2008/VtoR ... itBook.pdfhttp://www.bitd.com/downloads/2008/VtoR ... awings.pdfAs you no doubt know. . .navigation is as difficult for the chase teams as it is for the race truck. . .or maybe more. Let the adventure begin!!!!

Don wrote: The fuel cans hold 11 gallons .. are we going to try and overfill?? According to the documentation on our cans, they hold 13 gallons but are only graduated for the first 11. We'll find out when we fill them up though.

 Re: HOMEWORK!!!!
Ok, I'm going to flex my newb muscle a bit... Given the pace of this event and with the teams best interest in mind, I don't want to learn on the fly, I want to be as prepared as possible. Are we going to be having a meeting of some sort to walk through what's going to happen at each pit? Like here are some questions that come to mind having never done this... What do we wear? I'm thinking we should be prepared to dive under the rig at any moment if something needs to be done, double knees? coveralls? gloves? ear protection? eye protection beyond sunglasses? Are we doing a food/beverage stop before hand? do the chase trucks have coolers? We'll want to keep the drivers nourished/hydrated as well as ourselves... Does every thing happen at every pit? or do you fuel every other pit, or every third, etc? How do we know what to be prepared for at each pit? I've got all the directions and maps printed out in a binder, would be easy to write in some notes of what's going to happen at each pit so we can be thinking ahead... How do people communicate? Do the chase trucks and race truck have CB's? HAM? FRS's? do we need to bring some FRS's? Did I miss anything?
