Hello everyone. I didn't know there were this many NW folks that are racers.

A friend of mine asked me to be the engineer/driver/co-driver for his team. His goal is to race and finish the Baja 1000 this year (2009).

We have been looking for a vehicle for about a month. Everything seems to be in the Southwest. We don't have time to build a complete race rig; so we are looking for a pre-runner that can be finished, or a race-ready vehicle.

The team owner (Eric) originally purchased a Jeep Cherokee, and started asking questions of JeepSpeed; but they were less than helpful. The folks on Race Dezert have been very helpful. Sold the Jeep, and now looking at Toyota trucks, Ford Rangers, and Baja Bugs. Eric would prefer a truck.

I just got the recommendation to come here, today; so I have not had time to read the racing threads just yet. I will.

Glad to be part of some local racing people.

This is my daily driver and expedition vehicle.

Welcome to the site! It is great to see that our sport is growing in popularity up here! Please tap us for information. We have taken plenty of lumps of the head in our first couple of years as a team and hope to pass some of those learning experiences on to others!

You know, the first truck that comes to my mind is an 8100 (stock full) Ford F150 that has been for sale at the last few races we have been to. After looking it over, if we had the cash, it would be in our stables. I cannot find the ad on RDC for it, but Jim (oldgreen/ rgrmarketing) may still have some info on it.

Again, welcome and thanks for coming to the site!

yeah. . .the white one. I think that they wanted just over $20K for it. Josh Sutton's 7300 is a great deal for $16,500 and then you could race against and with us. That would be fun!!

Two pieces of advice: Race a Ford and race in Best in the Desert. 8-)

Great to have you aboard. We have several engineers in RGR. I retired in 1996.
