Well here it is:
We started the day with a rear start, which we have been wanting all year. The class lined up like this: Moore, Merritt, Casey, Foutz, and Hartmezt (us). We got the green light and we were off and running, and the truck started cutting out immediatly, and just would not run. We made it to the fisrt left hand uphill turn and it died. We cranked, and Cranked, and it finally started. We were able to make it up that little hill, and when we got to the first hill with silt, which was only a half mile out. it took us about six tries to get up it. The truck just would not run..... We made it up that hill after being passed by everyone, and off we went. Oh did I mention the truck was running like crap? Anyways we got it running a little bit better, but it was still cutting out real bad. So about twenty minutes into the race right before a right hand turn, the truck decided it wanted to run real good............. And we rolled it one and a half times...
So now here we are on our side, the new paint job, and body are all destroyed. It took us a while to get it flipped back over and with some help from BITD we got pulled out of all the boulders we landed in. We changed a flat tire, and the truck started and off we went again, and the truck ws running perfect hmmmmmmmmmmm. I guess it just did not like it's new paint job. So about five miles down the course we had a left rear tires go flat. We changed it and took off like there was no tomorrow. We were running way late, and did not know if we would make it to pit one before it closed. We made it t opit one with three mins. to spare. The guys threw on two new spares, gave us a can of gas and we were off. I told Karl we were gonna have to drive it hard to make up some time between pit one and two. Well as fate would have it we got stuck in the silt. Yup first time ever. We got pulled out and took off like we were on fire. When we pulled into pit two we had made up and hour. We fueled adn took off and we were on our way to pit three. We came accross a guy on a bike who had broke his arm, and separated his houlder. so we helped him oput and kept going to pit three. Whhen we pulled into pit three we had broke the rear leaf springs and they were sticking through the bed. so our day was done. We did pass up the truck 8116 and that made us feel good. so that is it.Gary
