 Silver State Prep!
Lets start the party again! Prep for Silver State begins this week with cleaning and damage assesment. We have learned some very valuable lessions from V2R that will make El Chivo tougher than ever for the next race.
Follow along as we basically rebuild El Chivo in less that 4 weeks!

 Re: Silver State Prep!
Prep is going great! As it turns out the issues from Vegas to Reno are quite a bit easier to fix then the expected "worse case" senario. Here are the main points of what have happended so far:
-Transmission not shifting - solved by finding a wire that had shorted to the case of the transmission and blown the fuse. Transmission is working perfect now! -Engine Management - said shorted wire was an O2 power wire. Engine is running great! - No 4x4 Engagement - Transfercase is torn down, minor damaged parts. Should be sealed up and back in the truck this week! -Broken Rear Axle Housing - New bad ass truss is currently being fabbed by our in house guru 'o' fabrication, Jose. New axle will be under the truck this week.
The rest of the plan:
Testing this weekend to put some miles on, then tear down for nuts, bolts, fluids and cleaning.
Silver State ... here we come!

Sweet. What are your thoughts as far as preventing that stuff from happening again? Atleast if it does you can run straight to that area and hope that is what it is.
I'm excited to see a truss on an 8.8, can't say I've seen it before lol.

I'm excited to see a truss on an 8.8, can't say I've seen it before lol. Most of the issues were caused by other issues. The O2 wire burned on the exhaust, causing the engine management problem. The end of the O2 wire swung over and shorted on the transmission, blowing it's power fuse, thus causing the 3rd gear only limp mode. Because we had no power, and only 3rd gear we had to run the transfercase in LOW. This overheated the transfercase, causing the 4x4 engagement gears not to slide ... and so on. The root problem was the unsecured O2 wire, so the entire harness will be gone over to resecure EVERYTHING. We now have the culprit fuse marked in the box for easy locating and change. We are also going to wrap the exhaust back to the floor pans with header tape to save both the wiring ... and Fozzies shoes. The truss looks freaking awesome! Pics coming soon!

Nickel welding on the diff housing itself? Can the truss not extend all the way to the spring mount? I dig it.

Damn that mix of mini disasters all being related sucks lol. It sounds taken care of though! That truss is sexy! I might have to go throw one on mine just for fun lol.
